A man suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be flown to the hospital after a rollover crash on Route 47 north of Woodstock Tuesday evening, authorities said.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:16 p.m. Tuesday to the 4900 block of North Route 47, south of Allendale Road, in unincorporated Woodstock.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said crews received a report of a single-vehicle crash with possible entrapment.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within seven minutes and located a small sedan off the road.
The vehicle appeared to have rolled over but came to rest back on its wheels, Vucha said.
Paramedics found the male driver unconscious and a medical helicopter was requested to the scene.
No extrication equipment was needed to remove the driver from the vehicle, Vucha said.
A LifeNet helicopter landed on the roadway just south of the accident along Route 47.
Vucha said the male victim was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious, life-threatening injuries.
Less than an hour prior to the Route 47 crash, another rollover crash occurred in the 4200 block of Doty Road in unincorporated Woodstock around 5:19 p.m.
Firefighters arrived and located a single vehicle off the roadway on its roof.
The male driver was assessed by paramedics but reported no injuries, Vucha said.
Both crashes are under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
