Gerald Harbison, 19, of O’Fallon, Missouri.

Police say they arrested a man who traveled from Missouri to meet a child and allegedly sexually abused her in Libertyville.

The Libertyville Police Department responded around 8:30 p.m. on March 7 to Seventh Avenue and Glendale Avenue in Libertyville.

A police report said officers received a call for a suspicious person in the area.

Officers were provided a description of the subject and located the man matching the description.

The subject was identified as Gerald Harbison, 19, of O’Fallon, Missouri.

Officers conducted an investigation and determined Haribson traveled from Missouri to meet a 15-year-old child, who resided in the area, the report said.

A further investigation revealed that Harbison engaged in sexual activity with the child, the report said.

Harbison was taken into custody and transported to the Libertyville Police Department where he was charged and processed.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of criminal sexual abuse.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
