Police say warrants have been issued for three suspects who allegedly stole checks belonging to an elderly man near Antioch and then altered and cashed the checks.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded on April 2, 2022, to a residence in the 38200 block of North Bolton Place in unincorporated Antioch for a report of a theft.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the victim, a 91-year-old man, reported he began receiving late notices on bills he paid.

The man put several envelopes containing checks in his mailbox as outgoing mail.

Those checks were determined to have been fraudulently altered and cashed, Covelli said.

Sheriffโ€™s detectives initiated an investigation that consisted of obtaining banking documents, video surveillance and interviews.

Detectives determined that three suspects worked together to drive around various neighborhoods and steal checks from the mail.

The suspects then altered those checks to make them payable to themselves and stole thousands of dollars.

David S. Kaminski, 40, of Antioch; Jessica C. Garlock, 27; and Elizabeth M. Tiskevich, 32, were charged with forgery.

An arrest warrant was issued for Tiskevich in December and the other two were issued this month.

None of the suspects are in custody yet, jail records show.
