Police have not released any details after a person was reported to have been found shot at a gas station in Waukegan early Saturday morning.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department were dispatched around 4:05 a.m. Saturday to the area of Grand Avenue and Jackson Street in Waukegan for a shooting.

Fire department radio traffic indicated one victim had been shot.

The victim was reported to be at the BP gas station, located at 902 Grand Avenue.

A dispatcher reported a male offender fled northbound from the scene.

Police officers arrived and confirmed the scene was safe for the fire department to move up.

Waukegan Police Commander Scott Chastain told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the detective bureau is conducting an investigation into the shooting.

Chastain said the police department did not want to publicly release any details on the incident due to detectives actively working the case to determine what exactly occurred.

It was unclear if there was more than one person shot but Chastain said the injuries were not life-threatening.
