Two men, who were armed with a replica gun, allegedly robbed a jewelry kiosk of products at the Belvidere Mall in Waukegan, prosecutors said.

Cristofer Y. Ixmay-Vicente, 19, of Waukegan, was charged with one count of aggravated robbery indicating a firearm, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid registration and driving without a license.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Kelse Banks said officers were dispatched on March 12 to the Belvidere Mall in the 2200 block of Belvidere Road in Waukegan for a report of a robbery.

Ixmay-Vicente and a second man entered the mall and approached a jewelry kiosk, Banks said.

They tried on jewelry, including chain necklaces that were worth between $200 and $450.

One of the suspects produced a firearm and pointed it at an employee of the kiosk, Banks said.

The firearm used was later determined to be a BB gun.

Banks said Ixmay-Vicente and the second suspect fled with the necklaces. They were captured on video surveillance getting into a vehicle.

Officers recognized the vehicle and license from a prior encounter.

Banks said officers conducted a traffic stop on Monday — two weeks after the robbery — on the suspect vehicle.

Ixmay-Vicente was the driver and the second robbery offender was the passenger, Banks said.

Ixmay-Vicente admitted to being the driver of the vehicle on the day of the robbery.

Banks said Ixmay-Vicente admitted that he and others planned the robbery while at a friend’s house.

Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Ixmay-Vicente held on a $300,000 bond.

A status of attorney hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
