A woman was arrested after prosecutors say she hit a developmentally disabled teenager and pulled him to the ground in Round Lake Beach.
Angela K. Heath, 35, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with two counts of domestic battery causing bodily harm and three counts of domestic battery physical contact.
A person called 911 on March 31 to report that a victim was being hit in the head by a woman.
The victim is a teenage family member of Heath and is autistic, according to Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Eduardo Zermeno.
Police responded to the Round Lake Beach residence and spoke to Heath, the victim and a witness.
The witness reported that Heath struck the victim on his head and pulled him to the ground by grabbing his shirt, Zermeno said.
Officers observed minor injuries on the victim. It was unclear what may have prompted the incident.
Heath has a domestic battery case out of Iowa and an order of protection against her by the same victim, Zermeno said.
Lake County Judge George Pappas ordered Heath held on a $20,000 bond.
Heath was released from the Lake County Jail on Sunday after posting bond.
An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Monday.
