State police say a drunk driver was flown to the hospital after a crash that left a vehicle rolled over on Interstate 90 near Huntley Tuesday evening.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and Illinois State Police responded around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to Interstate 90 at Route 47 for a vehicle crash with injuries.

The single-vehicle crash happened on the westbound exit lane to Route 47.

A preliminary investigation showed a black Jeep left the roadway on the exit ramp and rolled over, according to an Illinois State Police spokesperson.

Paramedics transported the driver of the Jeep to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley.

A LifeNet medical helicopter landed at the hospital’s helipad.

The flight crew transferred the victim from the ambulance to the helicopter.

The victim was then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The police spokesperson said the driver’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Troopers determined the driver was driving under the influence at the time of the crash.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.

The police spokesperson said they did not have the identity of the driver who was charged.
