Corrections officers found a Lindenhurst man hiding a baggie of methamphetamine in his underwear after he was taken into custody at a court hearing, authorities said.
Mark D. Fine, 22, of Lindenhurst, was charged with attempted possession of a controlled substance.
Court records show Fine was in court on April 4 for a case where he is charged with possessing child pornography in Antioch last year.
Fine has been out on bond but a judge increased his bond and remanded him to the Lake County Jail during the hearing.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said a court security officer took Fine into custody.
The officer conducted the first of two searches of his person.
Fine was turned over to corrections officers and brought into the jail.
Corrections officers located a small baggie that was in the elastic area of Fine’s underwear during a more thorough search, Covelli said.
There was a substance inside the baggie that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Fine remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $500,000 bond, jail records show.
Fine is scheduled to appear in court again on May 3.
