A suspect wanted for sexually assaulting a child was ordered held on a $140,000 bond after he and a second man were arrested by a SWAT team in Lake in the Hills on Friday.
The Lake in the Hills Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office’s multi-jurisdictional SWAT team executed a search warrant around 1:45 p.m. Friday in the first block of Deerpath Road.
The police department said the search warrant was the result of an investigation into “illegal activity.”
Two suspects, Jordan M. Aristud and Alberto I. Pietri-Molina, were taken into custody without incident.
A criminal complaint said Pietri-Molina is a convicted felon after being convicted in 2021 of residential burglary as a juvenile.
A separate criminal complaint said Aristud is also a convicted felon after being convicted in February of aggravated assault.
Aristud and Pietri-Molina both possessed a black handgun despite not being legally allowed, the complaint said.
Pietri-Molina also was found in possession of a black and tan handgun, the complaint said. Both guns found had defaced serial numbers.
Police also found extended magazines in Aristud and Pietri-Molina’s possession, including a 50-round drum magazine.
Aristud and Pietri-Molina were transported to the McHenry County Jail and have been charged with multiple felonies.
Aristud, 19, of Lake in the Hills, was charged with defacing identification marks on a firearm, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license, possession of cannabis in a vehicle and three counts of possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
Pietri-Molina, 19, of Lake in the Hills, was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, two counts of defacing identification marks on a firearm, three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and four counts of possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
Pietri-Molina was also charged with criminal sexual assault by force, a Class 1 felony.
A warrant had been issued for him for that charge the same day the search warrant was carried out, court records show.
Pietri-Molina allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl by force in Lake in the Hills on April 5, according to a criminal complaint.
Both men reside in the home where the warrant was conducted, police said.
In January, a gunman fired shots at a home and car two days in a row on the same street where Aristud and Pietri-Molina live.
The Lake in the Hills Police Department said the first incident occurred on January 2 when a single gunshot was fired at a residence around 6:20 p.m.
The second incident occurred the following day in the evening.
Three gunshots were fired toward the same residence, striking the home and a parked vehicle, during that incident.
No one was injured during either incident, police said.
The first shooting initially went unreported and was only discovered during the investigation into the second shooting.
Police have not confirmed whether the residence where Aristud and Pietri-Molina live is the same one that was targeted in the shootings.
Aristud and Pietri-Molina appeared in bond court Saturday.
McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge ordered Aristud held on a $20,000 bond. Aristud was released after posting 10% of his bond.
Coppedge ordered Pietri-Molina held on a $140,000 bond. He remains held in the jail and would need to post $14,000 cash to be released.
