A Lake in the Hills man was charged with punching a security guard at a hospital in Woodstock and attempting to punch an EMT, court documents show.

Mitchell A. Thompsen, 27, of Lake in the Hills, was charged with aggravated battery of a security officer, aggravated assault on an emergency worker and criminal trespass to building.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Thompsen trespassed at Northwestern Medicine Hospital, located at 3701 Doty Road in Woodstock, around 4:50 p.m. on Friday.

Thompsen was told to leave multiple times but refused, the complaint said.

The complaint said Thompsen struck a hospital security guard in the face and nose with a closed fist.

Thompsen also attempted to strike an emergency medical services worker by making a fist and swinging at him, the complaint said.

Officers with the Woodstock Police Department responded and arrested Thompsen, court records show.

McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge ordered Thompsen held on a $10,000 bond.

Thompsen remains held in the McHenry County Jail and would need to post $1,000 cash to be released.

A bond review hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
