Authorities say a Hawthorn Woods man was caught with a baggie of cocaine “affixed” to his genitals after being brought to the Lake County Jail in Waukegan.
Stacy R. McKiernan, 45, of Hawthorn Woods, was arrested by the Wauconda Police Department on April 10.
Officers arrested McKiernan for possession of a controlled substance, driving on a revoked license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
McKiernan was also wanted on a warrant in a prior possession of a controlled substance case.
McKiernan was transported to the Lake County Jail and transferred to jail staff around 10:50 a.m. on April 11.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said all inmates brought to the jail are re-searched by corrections officers to ensure they have no contraband.
While searching McKiernan, corrections officers located a clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance.
The baggie was affixed to the backside of McKiernan’s scrotum, Covelli said.
Sheriffโs detectives tested the substance, which field tested positive for the presence of cocaine, Covelli said.
The Lake County Stateโs Attorneyโs Office reviewed the incident and approved the charge of bringing contraband into a penal institution.
A judge ordered McKiernan held on a $300,000 bond. He remains held in the jail as of Thursday.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 11.
