Police arrested an intoxicated mother who allegedly allowed her child to drive her car, leading to the child striking two houses with the vehicle and hitting a gas meter in Huntley.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Iris Hashemi, 36, of Huntley, endangered the life of her son, who is under the age of 18 on Sunday.

The incident happened around 12:35 a.m. Sunday in the 10300 block of Brighton Lane in Huntley.

The Huntley Police Department and Huntley Fire Protection District received a call for a report of a vehicle that struck a house.

The complaint said Hashemi, who was intoxicated, allowed her juvenile son to operate her red 2021 Ford SUV on a public roadway.

The juvenile ended up crashing the Ford into two separate residences, the complaint said.

A gas meter was also struck, leading to a gas leak that required Nicor Gas to respond to the scene to mitigate.

Details regarding Hashemi’s bond were not immediately known. A status hearing in the case is scheduled for May 8.
