Firefighters had to extricate the driver of a concrete truck after it rolled over onto an SUV near the border of Barrington Hills and Inverness Monday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District and Inverness Police Department responded around 2 p.m. Monday to Bradwell Road and Barrington Road for a report of a crash with entrapment.
A blue mid-size SUV was traveling westbound on Bradwell Road approaching Barrington Road.
A concrete truck turned eastbound onto Bradwell Road from Barrington Road when it rolled over.
The truck landed partially on top of the front of the SUV, leaving the driver of the concrete truck trapped, fire officials said.
The driver of the SUV was able to escape without injury.
Firefighters extricated the driver, who was trapped under the steering wheel, in approximately 10 minutes, fire officials said.
Paramedics transported the victim to Ascension St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Whitey’s Towing was called to the scene to assist in uprighting the rolled-over truck and removing it from the scene.
The process took several hours, causing Bradwell Road to be shut down until the scene could be cleared.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Inverness Police Department.
