An employee was arrested after prosecutors say he was found to be stealing contents from packages while working at a FedEx facility in Grayslake.

Kyle M. Acker, 33, of Waukegan, was charged with theft between $500 and $10,000, a Class 3 felony.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Stella Day said Acker worked as an employee earlier this month at FedEx in Grayslake.

His employer suspected him of stealing contents from packages that were received at the facility.

Acker was confronted by management and they found women’s jewelry on his person.

The jewelry was worth almost $3,000 and Acker admitted to taking it out of the packages without permission.

He has since been fired from his position at FedEx.

Prosecutors and Acker’s public defender noted during a bond hearing that Acker has a limited criminal background.

Lake County Judge Paul Novak allowed Acker to be released from custody on a personal recognizance bond.

Acker is scheduled to appear in court again on May 24 for status of preliminary hearing.
