Elaine Miller, 45, of Round Lake Beach.

Prosecutors say a woman stabbed her boyfriend with a knife in Round Lake Beach last weekend, requiring him to undergo surgery due to his injury.

Elaine Miller, 45, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated domestic battery.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Stella Day said a man called 911 on April 22 reporting that Miller stabbed him with a knife.

The victim and Miller are reportedly in a dating relationship.

Round Lake Beach officers arrived and found a stab wound on the victim’s upper arm.

There was blood in the kitchen and on the ground, Day said.

The victim was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery for his injury.

Prosecutors did not say what may have led up to the stabbing.

Officers arrested Miller and transported her to the Lake County Jail where she appeared in court for a bond hearing.

Day asked the court to impose a $100,000 bond and order Miller to have no contact with the victim or the residence.

A public defender representing Miller said that the woman has no prior criminal convictions.

Lake County Judge Paul Novak ordered Miller held on a $200,000 bond.

Miller remains held in the Lake County Jail as of Sunday and would need to post $20,000 cash in order to be released.

She is scheduled to appear in court again on May 23 for a preliminary hearing.
