A mother was arrested and charged after prosecutors say she put her child in a headlock and bit him on his fingers in Libertyville during an argument.

Rinku Jain, 49, of Libertyville, was charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm and domestic battery physical contact.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Stella Day said a child had an argument with their mother on April 22.

Day said Jain placed her juvenile son in a headlock and began biting him on his fingers.

The Libertyville Police Department responded to the scene and officers spoke to Jain and the child.

Jain admitted to placing the child in a headlock and biting him, Day said.

Officers observed additional injuries on multiple areas of the child.

The victim had fingernail scratches on both his arms and a cut on his foot and palm. The scratches were bleeding, Day said.

Jain was released from the Lake County Jail after posting 10% of the bond.

A bond review hearing is scheduled for May 17.
