Three patients were taken to the hospital after emergency crews were called to a rehabilitation facility in Lincolnshire, which was found with barely any staff members Monday.

The Lincolnshire Police Department received a report of a “severe staffing concern” around 9:11 a.m. Monday at a rehabilitation facility located at 150 Jamestown Lane.

Village officials said the facility is typically staffed with over 60 employees, however, only approximately one-third of staff members were on site.

The police department worked with the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District to address the situation.

Police also notified the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) about the situation.

Paramedics transported three residents of the facility to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for medical treatment.

Former staff members were called to assist and are currently caring for individuals at the facility, village officials said.

The rehabilitation facility previously operated as the Warren Barr Rehab Facility but The Wealshire, LLC took over operations effective Monday, which is when the staffing issues began.

The IDPH is the regulatory agency responsible for ensuring nursing homes comply fully with mandatory state regulations, village officials said.

The Lincolnshire Police Department said they will continue to work with IDPH while investigating the matter.
