The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said one of their canines helped track down a man in his 40s who was reported to be suicidal and fled on foot in Beach Park.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Martini and his canine partner Danno responded Thursday evening to a residence in Beach Park.

The sheriff’s office said a 46-year-old man made self-harm comments and fled on foot when responding deputies arrived.

Danno was deployed and tracked the man for several blocks.

The canine tracked to a nearby home and the man was successfully located.

“Good boy Danno!” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.

The Beach Park Fire Department was called to the scene around 10:20 p.m. in the 37100 block of North Green Bay Road.

Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital to receive mental health assistance.
