The Major Investigation Assistance Team is investigating after a man was reportedly found shot inside a residence in Wonder Lake and pronounced dead.

The Wonder Lake Police Department and Wonder Lake Fire Protection District responded around 11:09 a.m. Thursday to the 3100 block of Hillside Drive in Wonder Lake.

The Wonder Lake Police Department said officers received a report of an unresponsive male.

Officers and fire rescue personnel entered the home and located the man, who was confirmed to be deceased.

Fire department radio traffic indicated a relative of the man found him and reported that he was shot.

Police said there is no danger to the public but did not say whether anyone was in custody.

The McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT) was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.

The coroner’s office confirmed Wednesday that they had performed an autopsy on the man but did not provide further details.

“Due to this being an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time,” the police department said in a statement.

An attempt to reach the Wonder Lake Police Department for additional details went unanswered.
