A Lake County sheriff’s canine helped lead officers right to an 80-year-old man who went missing Tuesday in Vernon Hills, authorities said.

The Vernon Hills Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon they were searching for Gen Xiang Li.

Xiang Li is 80 years old and was described as an Asian male wearing black Adidas pants and a black jacket, the department said.

Xiang Li was last seen around 8 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Buchanan Court in Vernon Hills.

Police asked the public to keep watch for the man.

The police department did not say whether they believed Xiang Li was considered endangered or not.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said they sent Deputy Brian Kilpatrick and his canine Boomer to assist in the search.

Boomer tracked for over a mile and alerted officers of the direction of the track.
