A medical helicopter flew a 35-year-old man to a trauma center after police say he was shot in both of his legs at an apartment complex in McHenry Tuesday morning.
The McHenry Police Department and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to the Fawn Ridge Apartments in the 1900 block of North Orleans Street for a shooting.
Officers arrived on the scene and found a 35-year-old man who had been shot.
The man suffered gunshot wounds to both of his legs. His injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.
An officer gave first aid to the victim before paramedics arrived on the scene.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry, police said.
The ambulance transferred the man to a LifeNet helicopter, which flew him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.
The McHenry Police Department said a preliminary investigation of the incident has “not developed any information to indicate there is a danger to our community.”
The case remains under active investigation and police are not yet releasing additional information.
