An elderly man was flown to the hospital after deputies found him with serious injuries from an apparent accident in his garage near Marengo, sheriff’s officials said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:05 p.m. Saturday to the 19100 block of West Coral Road in unincorporated Marengo for a well-being check.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eric Ellis told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a woman called and asked for deputies to check on her husband.

The man was at home and had not been answering his phone.

A sheriff’s deputy arrived and found the man unresponsive with a head injury in a garage, Ellis said.

The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts was called to the scene and determined the elderly man needed to be flown to the hospital.

A LifeNet medical helicopter responded and transported the man to a trauma center.

Deputies determined that the man had hit his head while he was working in the garage and lost consciousness.

“There was nothing suspicious to indicate that this was anything other than an accident,” Ellis said.
