A Beach Park man died after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on Route 41 in North Chicago late Thursday evening, authorities said.
The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 10:51 p.m. Thursday to Route 41 north of Casimir Pulaski Drive in North Chicago.
Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek said the crash involved a bicyclist and a vehicle north of Casimir Pulaski Drive.
The bicyclist, a 36-year-old man, who was last known to be residing in Beach Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained on the scene, authorities said.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene.
Banek said the victim has been identified as Kyle Summy, 36, of Beach Park.
An autopsy was completed Friday morning on Summy and preliminary results confirm he died as a result of blunt force injuries, Banek said.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Chicago Police Department and MCAT.
