Police say a Waukegan man was arrested by sheriff’s deputies near Grayslake after he allegedly fled from officers who tried to stop him two separate times in Libertyville.
A Libertyville police officer was on patrol around 4:18 a.m. on April 26 when they noticed a vehicle traveling near Butterfield Road and Ridgewood Lane.
The officer conducted a check on the black Honda’s registration and learned it was expired, according to a police report.
The officer attempted to stop the Honda as it traveled northbound on Butterfield Road near Virginia Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop for officers and continued driving, the report said.
The driver eventually came to a stop on Milwaukee Avenue near Janas Court in Libertyville.
Officers attempted to have the driver exit the vehicle but the driver again refused and drove away, the report said.
The vehicle was later stopped by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office near Battershall Road and Lone Rock Road in unincorporated Grayslake.
The driver was identified as Sergio Solano, 21, of Waukegan, who was placed under arrest.
Officers also located cannabis that was not properly packaged inside the vehicle, the report said.
Solano was transported to the Libertyville Police Department where he was charged and processed.
He was charged with fleeing to elude a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, operating a motor vehicle after registration expired, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and possession of cannabis in a vehicle outside of a container.
Solano was released from custody after signing a personal recognizance bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 21 for an arraignment hearing.
