A restaurant and a massage parlor have been temporarily closed after a fire caused damage to the businesses in Round Lake Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to 159 West Belvidere Road in Round Lake for a report of a structure fire.

Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Tony Carraro said that Lake Spa Massage, a business in the commercial strip mall, was reported to be on fire.

Employees reporting for work and customers called 911 to report the fire.

The fire originated in a partitioned room and was held in check by the sprinkler system, Carraro said. There was no activation of the fire alarm system.

Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which prevented fire damage to adjoining businesses.

There was water and smoke damage to Alex’s Mexican Bar and Grill, which is immediately adjacent to Lake Spa Salon.
