Prosecutors say a man holding an infant endangered the child by resisting arrest from police officers, leaving an officer injured, in Waukegan.

Trevellis C. Thomas, 33, of Waukegan, was charged with child endangerment and resisting a peace officer causing injury.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Daly said officers responded to a domestic disturbance on May 14 in Waukegan. The incident involved Thomas and his wife.

Officers were investigating when Thomas began walking away from them.

He attempted to slam a door on the officers while holding an infant in a car seat, Daly said.

Officers struggled with Thomas while attempting to arrest him.

He pulled away from an officer and fell onto the officer on the ground, Daly said.

The officer suffered an injured shoulder and was transported to the hospital.
