A man was flown to the hospital after he was seriously injured during a cooking accident on Memorial Day near Spring Grove, fire officials said.

The Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded around 3:17 p.m. Monday to the 38600 block of North Lake Shore Drive in unincorporated Spring Grove for a burn victim.

Fox Lake Fire Protection District Lt. Jake Geist told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the victim had been using a smoker grill.

Geist said the smoker grill possibly exploded, but he did not know exactly what happened.
