A worker was flown to the hospital after suffering serious hand injuries during some type of machine accident at a manufacturing plant in Crystal Lake.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded around 2 p.m. Thursday to General Kinematics Corporation, 5050 Rickert Road in Crystal Lake, for a traumatic injury call.

A man in his 20s reportedly suffered an amputated thumb, according to fire department radio traffic.

A LifeNet helicopter was placed on standby and eventually requested.

Paramedics arrived and confirmed the victim suffered injuries that required transport to a trauma center.

The man was transported to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital to meet the helicopter at their helipad.

Paramedics transferred the victim to the helicopter, which flew the man to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Information regarding how exactly the victim was injured was not available.

General Kinematics Corporation specializes in the manufacturing of vibratory and rotary equipment and solutions for bulk processing of material in a variety of industries, according to its website.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department did not return a request for comment.
