Brandon D. Thompson, 25, of Mundelein.

Prosecutors say a man slashed the tires of a vehicle, forcibly broke into a home, threw a brick at a woman and started a fire inside the residence in Mundelein.

Brandon D. Thompson, 25, of Mundelein, was charged with criminal trespass to residence, two counts of criminal damage to property over $500 and resisting a peace officer.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Manuel Mandujano said Thompson was at his residence with three other people when a physical fight occurred on April 20.

The three people left Thompson’s residence and went to one of their homes.

The three heard a noise and discovered Thompson was outside slashing tires to one of the victim’s vehicles, causing over $1,000 in damage, Mandujano said.

Mandujano said Thompson forcibly kicked in the door to the home while the three were inside and confronted the people.

Thompson was armed with a brick and started a fire in a garbage can, Mandujano said.

A woman was transported to the hospital after she told officers that Thompson threw the brick at her head.

The owner of the home reported that approximately $10,000 in damage was caused by Thompson during the break-in, Mandujano said.

Thompson was recently charged in connection with the case and arrested, court records show.

Lake County Judge Raymond Collins ordered Thompson held on a $150,000 bond during an initial court hearing.

Thompson remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $15,000 cash in order to be released.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 12.
