Marcellus Clark, 26, of Lake Villa.

A man punched two police officers and resisted arrest, resulting in an officer being injured, at a movie theater in Gurnee, prosecutors said.

Marcellus Clark, 26, of Lake Villa, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery of a peace officer and resisting arrest causing injury.

The Gurnee Police Department responded Tuesday to Marcus Gurnee Mills Cinema, 6144 Grand Avenue in Gurnee, for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Kelse Banks said an officer attempted to speak with Clark while a second officer talked to Clark’s girlfriend.

Clark began walking away from the first officer and toward his girlfriend.

The officers told Clark to stop but the man ignored officers, Banks said.

Clark struck one of the officers in their vest and bodycam multiple times, Banks said.

Banks said the man then struck the second officer’s left forearm multiple times.

Clark allegedly began resisting arrest when officers tried putting him in handcuffs.

Officers struggled with Clark and eventually went to the ground with him, Banks said.

An officer suffered a puncture wound and scratches to his arm during the struggle.

Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Clark held on a $250,000 bond.

Clark remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $25,000 cash in order to be released.

A status of attorney hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
