A man and a woman were transported to the hospital after they were shot in front of a popular restaurant on Green Bay Road in Waukegan Monday morning.

The Waukegan Police Department responded around 11:30 a.m. Monday to in front of CYOC Restaurant, 2114 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan, for a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived and found numerous shell casings on the roadway at the entrance to the strip mall parking lot.

An older model red Jeep fled the scene and was later stopped by police near Glen Flora Avenue and Jackson Street.

Officers found two people who had been shot inside the Jeep. The Waukegan Fire Department was called to the scene.

A female victim, who was a passenger of the Jeep, was shot in the arm and paramedics transported her to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

A male victim, who was the driver of the Jeep, suffered a graze wound to his back.

He was transported to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.

Both victims suffered injuries that were non-life-threatening.

Police shut down southbound Green Bay Road at Sunset Avenue while investigating the incident.

It is unknown whether police have identified any suspects yet.

The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
