Detectives are investigating after a male victim was shot while involved in an argument in Waukegan early Thursday morning.

The Waukegan Police Department responded around 1:50 a.m. Thursday to the area of Glen Flora Avenue and New York Street in Waukegan for a shooting.

Officers arrived and learned the victim was reportedly involved in an argument outside near the intersection.

The male victim was shot once in the stomach, according to a police report.

The victim was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.

The hospital reported the victim is expected to survive, the report said.

Evidence technicians responded to the scene to process evidence from the incident.

No suspects are in the custody of the Lake County Jail yet in connection with the shooting.

The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the case.
