A man was charged with armed robbery after prosecutors say he walked into a gaming parlor in North Chicago while armed with a knife and stole a purse from a patron.
Lorenzo T. Rucker, 37, of Waukegan, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.
The North Chicago Police Department responded on June 9 to a call of an unwanted subject involving Rucker at a liquor store.
Officers cleared the scene and were later called again to a gaming parlor.
Prosecutors said Rucker slashed a flag out front with a knife and then walked into the business.
Rucker was still brandishing the knife and began saying unsettling things to people inside, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Rucker stole a purse from a patron who was sitting at a table.
He fled out the back door and ditched the purse while fleeing, prosecutors said.
Officers eventually located and arrested Rucker, who still had the knife in his possession.
Lake County Judge Luis Berrones ordered Rucker held on a $50,000 bond during an initial court hearing.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 27.
