A Wisconsin man, who was allegedly driving drunk with a child and stolen guns in his car, was arrested after he caused a crash that left two injured in Highland Park.
Abdur-Razzaq Musaqddiq, 49, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, child endangerment, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and unlawful use of a weapon.
The Highland Park Police Department responded around 11:40 p.m. on June 11 to Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road for a vehicle crash.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Manuel Mandujano said the crash involved three vehicles.
Musaqddiq crashed into a vehicle, which was stopped at a red light, causing a third vehicle to be struck.
Two occupants of the other vehicles were transported to Highland Park Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Musaqddiq was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Musaqddiq had been driving with his eight-year-old child in the car at the time of the crash, Mandujano said.
Officers searched Musaqddiq’s vehicle and located a backpack on the passenger floorboard.
Two handguns, which had loaded magazines inserted into them, were found inside the bag, Mandujano said. Both guns were reported as stolen.
Musaqddiq is a convicted felon for a battery case and is not allowed to possess firearms.
Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Musaqddiq held on a $200,000 bond.
Musaqddiq remains held in the Lake County Jail as of Monday.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 11.
