A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was shot in the face possibly near his home in Waukegan early Saturday morning.
The Waukegan Police Department responded around 1:40 a.m. Saturday to Vista Medical Center East, 1324 North Sheridan Road in Waukegan.
Hospital staff called police after a shooting victim walked in to the emergency room.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy, had been shot in the face, according to a police report. The boy was conscious and breathing.
Officers spoke with the victim but he was uncooperative with the officers, the report said.
The teenager said he was on Bonnie Brook Lane near his home, which is near Lewis Avenue and Hawthorne Court, when he was shot.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate a crime scene.
The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening and he was being treated at the hospital.
Officers attempted to get additional details on what happened but the victim did not provide any, the report said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
