A 6-year-old child was flown to the hospital and a 4-year-old child was also injured after an ATV they were riding on rolled over near Harvard, authorities said.

The Harvard Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:45 p.m. last Friday to the 17200 block of Lincoln Road in unincorporated Harvard.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eric Ellis said deputies were called for an ATV crash with injuries.

The crash involved a 38-year-old man who was operating the vehicle.

The man’s juvenile sons were passengers on the ATV, Ellis said.

The man told deputies that he was navigating a turn on Lincoln Road when he lost control.

Ellis said the ATV rolled over into the ditch, leaving the two children injured.

A Mercyhealth REACT helicopter was requested and landed at the scene.
