Authorities have identified a Mundelein man who died after he suffered critical injuries when his motorcycle struck a median and crashed in Chicago.

The Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department responded around 9:15 p.m. Thursday to the 7700 block of North Sheridan Road for a traffic crash with injuries.

Officers arrived to find a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

Police officials said the male victim was unresponsive on the ground.

The victim was identified as Dylan G. Jilpas, 34, of Mundelein.

An investigation showed Jilpas was operating his motorcycle southbound on Sheridan Road in the city’s Rogers Park neighborhood.

The motorcycle struck the center median and crashed along the curve in the roadway near Eastlake Terrace, police officials said.

Paramedics transported Jilpas to Ascension Saint Francis in Evanston where he was pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which is being investigated by Chicago Police Area Three detectives.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said an autopsy performed showed Jilpas died from multiple blunt force injuries from the crash.

Jilpas’ death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

An obituary for Jilpas said he enjoyed outdoor activities, including riding his motorcycle and bicycle, skateboarding, hiking, swimming, paddle boarding and fishing.

“He also liked to listen to music, watch football and play competitive video games. Most of all he loved spending time with his nephew Maverick and his chihuahua Delilah,” the obituary said.

Jilpas leaves behind his girlfriend, mother, two sisters and other family members.

A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Friday at Kristan Funeral Home in Mundelein.
