Police say they arrested a 34-year-old man on Sunday who allegedly sexually assaulted a juvenile, who is a family member of his, in Woodstock.
The Woodstock Police Department responded on Sunday to Northwestern Medicine Hospital, 3701 Doty Road in Woodstock, for a report of a sexual assault that previously occurred.
Woodstock Police Chief John Lieb said the hospital reported an allegation of an assault that occurred to a juvenile by an adult relative in late June.
Detectives and a member of the McHenry County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) met with the juvenile and a parent at the hospital.
A multi-disciplinary team composed of members of the McHenry County CAC, the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Woodstock Police Department convened at the advocacy center later that day.
A specially-trained forensic interviewer from the CAC interviewed the juvenile, Lieb said.
Lieb said the investigation revealed a suspect identified as Alejandro J. Barradas, 34, of Woodstock.
A criminal complaint alleges Barradas committed several sex acts on the victim, who was under the age of 18, sometime on June 22 through June 23.
The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of criminal sexual assault of a juvenile family member, a Class 1 felony.
A warrant was issued for Barradas and he was taken into custody Sunday and transported to the McHenry County Jail.
Barradas was ordered held on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Lieb said the case remains under investigation by the Woodstock Police Department.
