Michael Campasano, 32, of Glendale Heights.

Prosecutors say a 32-year-old man groomed a Round Lake child on Snapchat by making sexual comments and saying he wanted to date the child.

Michael Campasano, 32, of Glendale Heights, was charged with one count of grooming, a Class 4 felony.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Kelse Banks said the victim in the case is 14 years old.

Campasano had contacted the child on Snapchat and made sexual comments, Banks said.

He made references to the child’s genitals and also said he wanted to date her, Banks said.

Prosecutors did not say whether Campasano knew the child or how exactly contact was initiated with her.

The Round Lake Police Department investigated the case and obtained an arrest warrant for Campasano.

A judge signed the warrant with a $350,000 bond, court records show.

During an initial court hearing, Lake County Judge George Pappas ordered Campasano held on the bond that was set on the warrant.

Pappas ordered Campasano to have no contact with the victim or any juveniles and not to use the internet.

Campasano remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $35,000 cash in order to be released.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 18.
