A woman was seriously injured while trying to chase after her vehicle, which was not put into park, at an apartment complex in Waukegan Wednesday.
The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 8:59 p.m. Wednesday to the 2000 block of West Eagle Ridge Drive in Waukegan.
An initial dispatch of the call indicated a woman was trapped underneath a vehicle during some type of accident.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Reserve at Eagle Ridge Apartment Homes.
Officers arrived and found the female victim was not trapped under the car, according to a police report.
They learned the woman had attempted to chase her vehicle which had started rolling after it was left in gear.
The woman was trying to get into the car to stop it from moving when she fell and hit her head, the report said.
Paramedics transported the woman to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, which is a Level 1 trauma center.
The extent of the woman’s injuries was not known but she is expected to recover, according to the report.
