Two men were arrested and guns were found after a vehicle fled from police and nearly struck multiple officers before crashing into another vehicle in Waukegan.

Dwayne D. Gordon, 37, was charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, aggravated fleeing to elude causing damage, failure to reduce speed, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper traffic lane usage and improper turn signal.

Joshua D. Allen, 36, was charged with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and four counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

The Waukegan Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle around 9:40 p.m. last Sunday.

The vehicle, which was near Washington Street and Lewis Avenue, attempted to flee and drove through a red light.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Dino Katris said multiple officers were almost struck by the offending vehicle, driven by Gordon.

The suspect vehicle collided with a second vehicle after it ran the light. The victims in the second vehicle were uninjured.

Officers were able to arrest Allen and Gordon.

Allen was the passenger in the suspect vehicle, Katris said. Officers found two loaded guns outside of the car allegedly belonging to Allen.

Allen is a convicted felon for prior drug convictions. He does not have a concealed carry license or a Firearm Owner’s Identification card, Katris said.

Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Allen held on a $250,000 bond. Gordon was ordered held on a $350,000 bond.

Both men have since posted 10% of their bonds and been released from the Lake County Jail.
