
Paramedics transported two people to the hospital after they were wounded during a shooting believed to have occurred at a house party in Waukegan Sunday.
The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 7 p.m. Sunday to Lake Behavioral Hospital, 2615 Washington Street in Waukegan.
Two victims were found in a red vehicle outside of the psychiatric hospital, according to a fire department dispatch.
The two victims had gunshot wounds and claimed to the officers they accidentally shot themselves, a police report said.
Two ambulances were called and paramedics transported the victims, adult males, to area hospitals.
The victims involved were uncooperative with investigators, the report said.
Officers investigated and learned a shooting occurred at a residence in the 1300 block of Grand Avenue in Waukegan.
A birthday party was being held at the residence at the time of the incident.
Both victims suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
