A nurse has been criminally charged with neglecting residents of a nursing home in Crystal Lake for allegedly working while intoxicated, court records show.

Angela S. Hutchison, 47, of McHenry, was charged with one count of criminal neglect of a facility resident, a Class 4 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said Hutchison was employed at Fair Oaks Health Care Center, 471 West Terra Cotta Avenue in Crystal Lake.

Hutchison worked as a registered professional nurse at the center, which is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility.

The complaint said Hutchison criminally neglected residents by working while she was intoxicated.

Her actions “recklessly created a substantial likelihood” that a resident’s life be endangered or their pre-existing conditions to deteriorate, the complaint said.

The complaint listed an offense date of June 11.

Records with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation show Hutchison’s professional nursing license, obtained in 2009, remains active and she has not been formally disciplined before.

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges against Hutchison on Monday, court records show.

An arrest warrant was obtained by detectives with the Crystal Lake Police Department.

Hutchison has not yet been taken into the custody of the McHenry County Jail.

A tentative status hearing to check on the status of the warrant is scheduled for August 7.
