Firefighters extricated a trapped driver and transported two occupants to the hospital after a car drove off the road into a pond along Route 41 in Lake Forest.
The Lake Forest Police Department, Lake Forest Fire Department, Libertyville Fire Department and Lake Bluff Fire Department responded around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday to Route 41 and Gage Lane for a report of a water rescue call.
A fire department dispatch reported a car drove into a pond on the southwest corner.
Firefighters arrived and reported the vehicle was not submerged and canceled the water rescue response.
Two occupants were reported to be in the car. The driver was trapped and firefighters extricated them.
The passenger was assisted out of the car by fire crews.
Paramedics transported both of the occupants to Lake Forest Hospital for treatment.
Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Michael Lange said both occupants suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle was only in approximately one foot of water, Lange added.
Traffic on southbound Route 41 was reduced to one lane during the incident.
Lange said he did not have further information regarding the cause of the crash.
