A police pursuit of a suspect who hit a police officer with a car ended with the suspect crashing and being taken into custody in Barrington Hills Saturday morning.

The incident began in Carpentersville late Friday evening just before midnight.

A Carpentersville police officer was reportedly struck and injured by a vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old female suspect.

A police pursuit was initiated involving the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Carpentersville Police Department.

The Barrington Hills Police Department also assisted when the pursuit entered into their town. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

Police radio traffic reported the chase came to an end near North River Road and Haegers Bend Road in Barrington Hills around 11:55 p.m.

The suspect vehicle lost control at a curve in the roadway and the car drove off the road, according to a resident who lives in the area.

The vehicle struck trees and a large rock landscape feature, the resident told Lake and McHenry County Scanner.

Officers arrested the female suspect a short time later and transported her to the Kane County Jail.

Charges against the suspect were not known.

The Carpentersville Police Department has not released information on the incident yet.
