An active police investigation is underway after a 9-month-old baby who was found unresponsive in Harvard died Tuesday morning.

The Harvard Fire Protection District and Harvard Police Department responded around 9:51 a.m. Tuesday to the first block of North Lincoln Street.

Harvard Police Chief Tyson Bauman said officers received a call for an unresponsive infant.

Officers arrived on the scene before paramedics to find the 9-month-old boy was not conscious and not breathing.

Officers began performing CPR on the boy until paramedics arrived, Bauman said.

The Harvard Fire Protection District transported the infant to Mercy Harvard Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Further details were not released on what may have led to the child’s death.

The Harvard Police Department and the Crimes Against Children Task Force are actively investigating the incident.
