No one was seriously injured after police say a semi-truck pulling a tractor-trailer rolled over in a roundabout and spilled debris onto the roadway in Marengo.

The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Marengo Police Department responded around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Route 23 and Harmony Road.

911 callers initially reported a gravel truck rolled over and the driver was trapped inside.

The driver was able to crawl out of the truck and was not seriously injured, according to fire department radio traffic.

The driver declined transport to the hospital and fire department crews left the scene a short time later.

The Marengo Police Department and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office performed traffic control by rerouting traffic through the roundabout.

A second semi-truck was called to the scene and a skid steer loader assisted with removing debris that spilled onto the roadway from the rolled-over tractor-trailer.

A heavy wrecker tow truck uprighted the rolled-over semi-truck and towed it from the scene.

The Marengo Police Department said they remind motorists to travel slowly when navigating a roundabout.

“Luckily no one was seriously hurt. But it did take a bit of extra manpower to get people through the intersection as well as to clean it up,” the department said.

Police did not say whether the driver was cited for the incident.
