Police say they are investigating after a call of a bomb threat resulted in the evacuation of an animal hospital in Lake Zurich Thursday afternoon.

The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department and Lake Zurich Police Department responded around 4 p.m. Thursday to Companion Animal Hospital, 917 South Rand Road in Lake Zurich.

Lake Zurich Deputy Police Chief David Anderson told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that officers were notified of a bomb threat.

Anderson said a phone call conveying the threat was made to the business, which then called the police.

Officers cleared everyone out of the animal hospital and requested a bomb detection canine to the scene.

A Cook County Sheriff’s Office bomb detection dog responded and performed a sweep of the building, Anderson said.

The search of the building resulted in no devices being found.

The employees were allowed to return to the building after approximately two hours.
