Prosecutors say a man made sexual comments to a child and followed the child all the way to her home in Round Lake Beach where the child’s mother intervened.
Brandon L. Barry, 22, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Emma Smoler said a parent called 911 last Sunday to report someone had followed their daughter home in Round Lake Beach.
The child told officers she was walking home when a man, later identified as Barry, approached her and made comments.
Barry asked the girl if she wanted to have sex and then began making comments about the girl’s body, Smoler said.
The child told the man to stop and ran home crying, Smoler said.
Barry allegedly followed the child to her home and went up to the home’s front door.
Smoler said the mother of the child took a photo of Barry through the window and called 911.
The Round Lake Beach Police Department responded and arrested the man.
Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Barry held on a $200,000 bond.
Barry remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $20,000 cash in order to be released.
An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Monday.
