Four suspects have been indicted by a grand jury after prosecutors say they raided an Ulta store in Highland Park, stole over $14,000 worth of products and led police on a chase.
Shavona Williams, 20, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Lakera Grady, 19, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Danielle Beavers-Jones, 28, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Deeavalon Riley, 22, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were all charged with retail theft, theft over $10,000 and burglary.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Dino Katris said the Highland Park Police Department responded on January 5 to Ulta Beauty, 135 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park.
A 911 caller reported a retail theft in progress and said the suspects were “wiping out the store.”
A police chase ensued of Grady’s vehicle and officers eventually stopped them, Katris said. The chase came to an end when officers in Wisconsin boxed the suspect vehicle in.
The chase was captured on police dashcam, which was released at the time of the incident.
Officers recovered 125 products, worth $14,700, from the vehicle.
Grady admitted the group was going to steal from a Macy’s store but they ended up choosing the Ulta to steal from, Katris said.
None of the suspects were charged at the time of the stop.
Charges were filed against Grady, Williams, Beavers-Jones and Riley in mid-May — months after the theft.
Arrest warrants were issued for the group and Grady, Williams and Riley were taken into custody at the end of June.
Beavers-Jones was taken into custody earlier this month. A grand jury indicted the four suspects on July 19.
All four remain held in the Lake County Jail on $250,000 bonds.
They would each need to post $25,000 cash in order to be released.
